Easels with wheels
Easels are available with or without wheels. If you like to change your location when you paint, for instance because of the incidence of light, it can be handy to purchase one with wheels. That way you don’t have to keep picking up your easel to move it around. You can also fix the wheels, so that the easel does not move while you are painting.

Adjustable easels

Material
Easels are often made of beech wood or pinewood. Beech easels are more stable, because the material is heavier. As a result, they are slightly more expensive. Pinewood is the cheaper option. The material is less sturdy and lightweight, making them easy to carry.

Tripod or H-frame
Easels are available with a tripod or H-frame. H-frame easels are more stable and therefore more suitable for painting large canvases. Tripod easels are often collapsible and easier to take with you. They are also often somewhat cheaper.
