Everything You Need to Know About MTN Water Based Spray Paint

Montana Colors Water Based spray cans are a revolutionary spray paint with unique properties that have transformed the graffiti and urban fine art world. If you're not yet familiar with Montana Water Based Spray Paint, we've gathered all the fundamental information about these water-based spray cans for you.
Montana Water Based Paint: Revolutionary Spray Paint
In 2014, Montana Colors developed the MTN Water Based spray paint, a water-based spray can available in a 300ml size and more recently also in a 100ml can. The low-pressure spray can was launched with a range of 52 matte finish colors (and currently there are already 100 colors available), matching traditional pigments.
This product was developed for a new group of users. Montana Colors noticed that more and more artists were working indoors with graffiti paint, for example to work on canvas or to decorate walls. In addition to studio work, spray paint is also increasingly used indoors, such as by architects for model making, in model building, or other creative applications. In addition to these professional applications, spray paint is also often used indoors for workshops and/or children's parties. However, there was a need for a spray can specifically designed for these applications. A spray can that is non-toxic, can be used on materials like styrofoam and other soft plastics, and emits minimal odor.
Montana Colors developed some technological advancements in the aerosol world by searching for new formulas that are more ecological and have less chemical impact. Creating this water-based spray can was a significant step in this direction. MTN Water Based paint is not solvent-based and therefore has minimal impact on the environment. To support the launch of a revolutionary spray paint, Montana Colors gave it the simple and clear name MTN Water Based 300.
MTN Water Based paint is easy to use, odorless, and versatile
The MTN Water Based 300ml spray can is slightly smaller than the standard 400ml spray can. The reason for this is that a smaller spray can provides more comfort in use. This makes you more agile for finer work, such as on canvas, and the spray can is also more suitable for smaller hands, such as those of children.
The spray can is very versatile in use, for example you can (because the paint is water-based) use extra water as a solvent, for example to dilute it and then paint with a brush. So there is plenty of room for experimenting with different tools and it's easy to mix with other colors once applied. As long as the paint is wet, you can mix or remove it with a wet sponge, but once it's dry, the water-based paint is permanent!
From canvases to sketches, to sculptures... the applications for which these spray cans can be used are endless! In California and Hawaii, for example, various surfboard makers use MTN Water Based as their #1 tool for pimping surfboards, due to the absence of typical spray paint chemicals.
With all these features, Montana Water Based 300 is the perfect spray can for indoor use, for a multitude of applications. Because of its size, paint properties, and especially low odor, it's the most suitable paint for graffiti, fine arts, and other indoor applications. Not working indoors? MTN Water Based is also a great tool for graffiti, street art, and large-scale murals.
MTN Water Based Colors
MTN Water Based was released with 52 original colors with names of the traditional pigments used in the art world. By using these recognizable names, the color range defines its own color identity (compared to the Hardcore and 94 series) and provides the visual arts specialist with a familiar color identification system.
From indoor use to bombs
The graffiti world has a peculiar tendency to adapt products designed for a completely different purpose to meet the needs of graffiti. A good example is the Sakura Solid Paint Stick, originally developed for the steel industry, but which also works well on rough surfaces and adheres well.
In the case of MTN Water Based Spray Paint, something similar happened. Many graffiti writers use MTN Water Based when they're on the go. The paint is odorless and helps to avoid drawing attention. Many train and subway graffiti writers swear by water-based spray paints to avoid getting caught.
Ultimately, Water Based Spray Paint is the only solvent-free spray paint on the market. Beware of water-based sprays that advertise an "Acrylic Formula" on their spray cans. These are not completely water-based. Instead, they refer to the chemical nature of the resin (alkyd, acrylic, or nitro) and are entirely solvent-based, and in turn, not healthy for indoor spraying. If you're looking for a human and environmentally friendly water-based spray formula, MTN Water Based is the real deal!
